I made this project for Christopher West Presents, his new gallery in Indianapolis, IN.
As part of his first show, e-xhibit 1, Christopher challenged all the artists involved to create a work of art that could be emailed and printed on standard 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper. No other restrictions applied.
I submitted your idea here. To read more and see more images from the show, visit christopherwestpresents.blogspot.com/ and read the preview in the Indy Star at blogs.indystar.com/artseen/2009/05/christopher_wes_1.html , and visit the flickr group that includes the install instructions at http://www.flickr.com/photos/marchorowitz/sets/72157621800041364/ .
Have fun over there! Try this at a party or something if your really high, totally bored, or just flat out like the idea.

By the next July 4th, I will have climbed the ranks of the popular fastfood chain, Arbys, to become the CEO. By default, I will become the CEO of Wendy’s too.
Please follow this wild journey at http://arbys.tumblr.com/ and wish me luck!

The other day, I bought a tiny dollhouse microwave because the clock read 4:20. I died laughing in the store. Mothers shielded their daughters from me – a creepy bearded man looking at dollhouse kitchen appliances. But seriously, was this a breakthough? Did I finally discover the true origin behind the stoner code 420? Could I discredit Huffington Post’s myth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_(cannabis_culture). It makes total sense – stoners get high, get munchies, then enjoy microwavables becasue they are fun and easy to cook! But most stoners don’t shop for dollhouse microwaves. Exactly! They got the 420 code when they went shopping for real microwaves. They saw 4:20 on the microwave’s digital clock that is featured in the microwave product shot that is printed on the box. This comes from a long tradition of photographer’s assistants setting microwave’s digital clocks to “4:20” before photographing them for the product shots that are eventually printed on the box in which they are shipped and sold. The dollhouse microwave is just an inside joke; all dollhouse furniture designers are stoners. That is fact.
To further my hypothesis, I set out to see if all adult-size real microwave product shots had 4:20 on their digital clocks. Unfortunately, I only found one.
Sad.
The other two product shots with 4:20 on the digital clock are toaster ovens, and everyone knows that stoners hate toaster ovens. Mmmmm… this burrito could be ready in 3 1/2 minutes in the microwave… or I could put it in the toaster oven for 40 minutes. Come on.
My theory, I think, is therefore wrong, unless anyone can help me out here????

My friend Michael Richardson made me a personal anthem!! It’s awesome and sort of sounds like I may be taking over Madagascar soon. Don’t worry I’m not; you can only really do that in Risk.
or can you?
I give to you… The Marc Horowitz Personal Anthem...

Here are some photos from an amazing evening of dare devils that double up as poodle trainers, strange humor, glow-in-the-dark acrobats, interesting smells, ladies of all sizes, and too much cotton candy at Circo Atayde. The little circus was tucked away between a 99 cent store and a massive latino grocery store that had the most extensive tequilla selection I’d ever seen.
If you are in Los Angeles and need something to do, this is a must see. It ends Tuesday, March 31st, 2009, so hurry! It is at 3rd street and Bonnie Brae (http://bit.ly/3GIwoJ).

Christmas came a little early/late this year with this new exciting scavenger hunt game I unveiled at tenoversix for their LA fashion week show. It’s called Hidden Paintchip Fancy Gift.
To prepare the game, I matched the color of select items around tenoversix’s courtyard to paint chips, like the ones you get at home depot. I then precisely cut the paint chips to match parts of the items I selected, thereby camouflaging the paint chip pieces. When people arrived at the opening, they were instructed to go out into the courtyard and find the little paint chip bits. When someone found one, they were instructed to bring it to me. Then, I would redeem it for one of the gifts my mom gave me this past Christmas. The gifts have never been open, so it was a big surprise to use both.
If you would me to set up Hidden Paintchip Fancy Gift at one of your parties, please feel free to contact me at marc (at) ineedtostopsoon (dot) com, and we can work something out.

Let’s speak out against these ridiculuosly long receipts companies like CVS, Walgreens, Target, & Walmart are printing everyday in the tens of thousands. Think about all the trees that are cut down. sad.
Please join me and take pictures of the long receipts you get and post them to The Long Receipt Club. Let’s make an example and try to end this waste.
Here is the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. 30 1/2″ long CVS receipt for 15 items.
