Encase my volovo in lucite and put it in my mom’s driveway as an early birthday gift. She loves lucite.

NEW IDEA #1: Everyone knows that credit and debit cards are quickly replacing checks and cash. We all experience that “wait time,” the time it takes for the cashier to run your card, wait for approval (which sometimes can be a scary as an AIDS test), and then hand you either something to sign or a receipt.
What do you people do during that “wait time?” It can vary widely; some people talk on their phone, others make small talk, sometimes there is a moment of uncomfortable eye contact, it can be a very long wait if “the system” is slow and you can get into a heated political debate, some folks stare at the register or pick up the store’s weekly coupon offerings, some draw on their hand (like myself), and the list goes on.
I would like to film some of these moments and put them together as a little short. I’d love to get your video submissions as well. Next time you go to the grocery with your friend, make a little short film with you phone or camera of that “wait time” that passes as you wait for the credit/ debit card processing. To upload your videos, just go to google video and sign-up here – https://upload.video.google.com/ ; if you have a gmail account, just sign up on the right, or if you use another mail program, go to the bottom and click “click here to apply.” Then just send me the link to your video. After I get some and you send some in, I’ll post the world premier! Don’t know how this’ll work out, but let’s wait and see.
NEW IDEA #2: The other idea is to take two families and have them move into a duplex side-by-side. They can’t move into the new place with anything except what is on their person. Each family is given a stipend of $10,000 and must live for two entire months entirely on products, furniture, and food bought from the Sky Mall Catalogue (those weird catalogues you find on planes).
They will eat entire freeze dried dinners, snack on fruit baskets, sleep on ottoman beds, take on a golfer’s wardrobe, and possibly spend a quarter of their budget on a crappy PC tower.
Which family will be able to make it through the two months? Will the families feud, will they share and trade? Will this cause a divorce or scurvy? How will their places look at the end of this unimaginable journey into… Sky Mall??
If you are interested in being a part of this, let me know and we’ll see if Sky Mall is into it.

I finally completed Phase Two of the Human Video Game Experiment – Free Piggyback Rides on Rodeo Drive, per your votes! It was a close call with The Group Portraits on LA Subway Cars. You can see the Phase One video, trying on as many clothes as I possibly could at the St. Vincent DePaul’s Thrift Store, by clicking right here.
More HVGE experimentation to come…

Group Portrait 1: Little Joy’s Bar, Silverlake, LA, CA
I ended up doing the free piggy back rides on Rodeo Drive, the project that got the most votes from The Human Video Game Experiment (HVGE) post. It was fun and terribly exhausting. No pictures or videos yet; soon though.
This project you see here is an alteration of one of the HVGE projects listed, group portraits in public places. Originally, I was going to just stick to subway cars, and simply organize everyone on the car into a group portrait. It was too limiting though, so I took it elsewhere.
Please, please. You have to try this. Go into a place, an elevator, a library, a bar, a hot dog stand, a clothing store, your bank, wherever, and organize as many people there as you can into a group portrait. Cheese – and take the picture!!! If you can get everyone there in the picture, I’ll send you a snickers bar. Got it? Most of these people are strangers and you’ll have to do a little convincing.
Oh yeah, you can pose in the photos if you like. Usually there is someone there who is shy, but doesn’t mind taking the picture for you.
Please send your group portrait photos to me, no cheating (not just you and your friends), at – marc at ineedtostopsoon dot com. Let me know where you took it and in what city and state.
Thanks and I can’t wait to see these. I’d like to put all of these in a zine. It’d be special.
p.s. I’ll post some more HVGE projects to vote on soon. I like that project.
Group Portrait 2: CalArts Art Opening, Valencia, CA
Group Portrait 3: William Morris Agency (mailroom), Beverly Hills, CA

I spilled some coffee on this picture – oops.
I’ve known my mom for a long time. She and I haven’t really collaborated on many public projects, so it’s about time. She is an incredible woman who has a beautiful way about her, and she is looking to date again. So here is what we would like to do.
Since I get about 25,000 hits a day, we figure that one of you is Mr. Right for my mom, Karen. Furthermore, you good people seem to have good judgment about you.
I’d like to have men that think they have what it takes to date my mom submit a picture of themselves and answer the questionnaire at the bottom of this post. As I receive the submitted profiles I’ll post them here SUITORS. Once it seems appropriate to end the submission process all of YOU WILL BE ABLE TO VOTE ON A DATE FOR MY MOM!
Yes, you could say this smacks of that TV show, Who Wants to Marry My Dad, but really, that show was awful, she’s not a rich white male, and I’m not a cheesy offspring. Plus, he got engaged on the show and then quickly got “un-engaged.” I want this to work out!!! Sleepless in Seattle, maybe? But she doesn’t really look anything like Tom Hanks.
This is a national thing, so if you are not from Sacramento, please don’t be bashful; she would like for you to come and see her or fly her out to visit with you. Personally I’d like to see her take a vacation with someone very special.
So here’s what I have to say about my mom:
She’s incredible, what can I say. She is a strong woman with a clever sense of humor and a very creative brain. She’s active politically (for the left side of course) and has the spirit to carry all of us to World Peace. She’s an unbelievable teacher and mom and if you haven’t met her you’re truly missing out on a wonderful person.
Here’s what she has to say:
My spare time is taken up with reading, writing and listening to blues and jazz. My friends say I’m kind, carefree, and witty. I have two lively African Grey parrots who say complete sentences. I love wolves!
One of my favorite countries is Italy; I love Rome but have not yet been to Florence. I’ve lived and worked in London; Samuel Johnson said, “If you are tired of London, you are tired of life.” I’ve been all over Europe and The US; I dearly miss Paris, it’s the most beautiful city in the world for love!!
I love reading! One of my favorite books is The Red and the Black by Stendhal. I enjoy film almost as much as reading; one of my favorites is Moulin Rouge. I’m up on a few television show, Alias, The Grid, and since I’m a political junkie, CNN, world news, and Jon Stewart of course.
I like to play the piano and sing in choir. I often go bowling and dancing. I thoroughly enjoy a swim in one of our many amazing California lakes, taking a nice long walk, visiting museums, going to concerts, and skiing during the winter.
I love the Sacramento Kings! I have season tickets, so anytime you want to go…
I eat healthy, I don’t smoke or drink, but McDonald’s coffee is my absolute weakness.
My first teaching position was in Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn, NY. Many years later I am presently living in Sacramento and still teaching. I have taught middle, high school and college levels as well as English as a Second Language and art. I believe that we are students and teachers to each other. I really love what I do, it is very rewarding.
At first, I am quiet and reserved. Having lived most my young life in the East may explain my personality better. California has been good to me; I’ve enjoyed this state better than New York, mainly because of the weather, but I sure do miss New Yorkers!
There is so much to see in this world; however, I don’t want to do it alone. Not to say that being alone is lonely; I value my space and independence. Nonetheless, I would like to meet a special person.
I’d like to find a man between 45 and 65 who is honest and faithful. The inner beauty of a person is far more important than anything else. If we have some activities in common, that would be exciting but not crucial. To respect one another’s space and privacy is a must; a control freak is a total turn off. There are so many positive people in the world and a deep connection with one special man is essential. Hopefully, you are out there! Come and see my world and I know you won’t be disappointed.
Oh yeah, I’m 59, a cancer, been married a couple of times, and I consider myself pretty low-maintenance.
Thanks mom! If you think you or someone you know is a good match, please fill out the below questionnaire, attach a recent picture of yourself, and send it to me at marc@ineedtostopsoon.com.
1) Name
2) Location
3) Age
4) Build.
5) Occupation
6) Income (not required)
7) How would you describe yourself?
8) How would others describe you?
9) How do you spend your free time?
10) Do you have any kids?
11) Do you travel? Where have you been? Give us an interesting story.
12) Do you read? Favorite books?
13) Favorite films, actors, directors, moments.
14) Favorite music.
15) Favorite artists.
16) Do you have any pets? Tell us about em.
17) Do you like McDonald’s coffee?
18) What are your favorite dishes?
19) Can you cook any of them?
20) Who are you looking for?
21) Have you been married?
You can answer these in paragraph form if you like. Your picture and finished questionnaire will be posted here at for others to see and vote. Don’t be shy; this is a once in a lifetime chance to be with someone really amazing!
